  • Assessment of urinary iodine level in children, 6 – 12 years old, in Hella region (Tari and Koroba districts) Southern Highland Province PNG. 
  • Estimation of the per capita consumption of salt, quantitative assessment of iodine content in household and retail salt in Hella region, Southern Highland Province, PNG. 
  • Using Anthropometric parameters to assess the nutritional status of children, 6 – 12 years old, in Hella region, SHP, PNG. 
  • Quantitative (Iodometric titration) and Semi-quantitative (Spot-testing kits) assessment of iodine content in salt and the estimation of daily per capita consumption of salt in selected areas in NCD. {The areas are Five-Mile Settlement – An Urban area; Papa village (Motu-Koitabu district) – A Rural Costal area; Tauruba village (Riga district) – A Rural Hilly area; Six Mile Settlement – An Urban area and Kaugere Settlement – An Urban area}.

    Provision of leadership to team of researchers: 
    • Coordinator and Principal researcher: Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) Research Project: June 2002 to date. This is a multidisciplinary research project that involves colleagues from the Disciplines of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, O & G, Pharmacology, Physiology, Pathology, Medicine, Paediatrics, and Public Health. 
    • IDD program manager: Micronutrient Research Laboratory SMHS UPNG.
    • Chairman, Micronutrient Research Group SMHS UPNG: September 2003 to date. This group has succeeded in setting up the first Micronutrient Research Laboratory (MRL) in SMHS UPNG. The MRL is now a registered member of the Ensuring the Quality of Iodine Procedure (EQUIP) program in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Atlanta Georgia USA. The MRL is also a member of the International Iodine Network. The MRL is currently involved in research project involving four micronutrients: Zinc, Iron, Plasma Retinol (Vitamin A) and Thiamine (Vitamin B-1).
    • Member (in charge of laboratory matters), National Nutrition Task Force: Major functions: planning, implementation and coordination of 1st Nation Micronutrient Survey in PNG: 2005. 
    • Co-ordinator of all laboratory issues involving Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) Fortified Salt as a Strategy for the Control and Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) in PNG. 
    • Senior researcher: DNA Data base for Forensic analysis: Molecular Genetics laboratory, Division of Basic Medical Sciences, SMHS UPNG.
